SPEARFISH, S.D. – Spearfish police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a reported assault near Lions Park.
Officers responded around 11:23 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, to the recreation path and Lions Park area near North Third Street after receiving a report of an assault involving a woman.
Police say the suspect was an unidentified man, and investigators currently have only a limited description of him.
Authorities are now asking residents in the 800 through 1300 blocks of North Third Street to check any home surveillance footage recorded between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 4. Investigators believe video from the area could help identify the suspect or provide additional information about the incident.
The Spearfish Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
