The Rapid City Legal and Finance Committee took a significant step toward addressing the community’s mental health crisis by approving the 2026 budget for several local support organizations.
The programs are designed to offer compassionate, expert assistance to individuals facing mental health challenges—providing alternatives to police intervention and ensuring people get the help they need from trained professionals.
The committee officially signed off on funding for three key organizations that will work together to deliver these vital services including $360,000 to Journey On, $75,000 for Volunteers of America and $75,000 to the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board.
