RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Sustainability Committee is teaming up with Rapid City Rotary to offer a series of canning and food preservation classes this fall.
The first class, focused on making tomato sauce, is scheduled for September 20 at Someone’s In The Kitchen. Participants will receive hands-on instruction, recipes, and resources designed to help them preserve food at home.
Additional classes are planned throughout the fall, including an applesauce-making session in early October.
Organizers say the program is aimed at teaching practical food preservation skills while promoting sustainability and reducing food waste.
The classes are open to adults, with limited space available. Participants from households receiving free or reduced lunch benefits or SNAP assistance may qualify for reimbursement of the registration fee after completing the class.
Additional information and future class dates can be found through the Rapid City Sustainability Committee.
