Rapid City officials are preparing to take action following the demolition of numerous condemned structures at the Star Village community.
The property owner, Tzadik Management, owes the city more than $530,000 in unpaid bills, including over $344,000 tied directly to Star Village. City Council member Stephen Tamang said the city is exploring legal options to recover the outstanding debt.
According to city officials, the unpaid costs are placing a financial burden on taxpayers and impacting the city as a whole. The expenses stem largely from efforts to address unsafe and condemned properties at the mobile home community.
The Rapid City Council is expected to vote on the matter in the near future as officials determine the best course of action to collect the money owed and hold the property owner accountable.
