RAPID CITY, S.D. – A new Family Resource Center is now open at General Beadle Elementary, providing support services for students and families in the Rapid City Area Schools district.
The center offers access to food, showers, laundry facilities, and other resources designed to help families facing challenges such as housing instability and food insecurity.
The project was spearheaded by RCAS McKinney-Vento Coordinator Anita Deranleau and brought together support from Feeding South Dakota, the Black Hills Area Community Foundation, school district leaders, and community partners.
School officials say the goal is to help remove barriers that can impact attendance and student success by connecting families with needed services outside the classroom.
The food pantry is open from 4 to 6 p.m., while the center’s showers, washers, and dryers are available by appointment.
