WAGNER, S.D. – South Dakota’s Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday in Wagner.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says the incident happened in front of the Wagner Police Department. Authorities say a Wagner police officer fired at a suspect, but no one was struck by the gunfire and no injuries were reported.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Travis J. Six Toes of Wagner, was treated for minor injuries and has been charged with aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer.
Once the investigation is complete, DCI will submit a case report and shooting summary to the Attorney General’s Office for review and a final determination regarding the officer’s actions. Officials expect the public summary to be released within 30 days.
This marks South Dakota’s fourth officer-involved shooting of the year.
