RAPID CITY, S.D. – Feeding South Dakota brought the community together Tuesday for its first-ever Volunteer-a-Thon in Rapid City as part of Hunger Action Month.
The event took place at the organization’s distribution center on North Creek Drive, where volunteers spent the day packing, sorting, and preparing food boxes for individuals and families facing food insecurity across the Black Hills region.
Organizers added a fun twist with a “Delivering Through the Decades” theme, pairing volunteer shifts with music from different eras.
Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign held each September to raise awareness about food insecurity and encourage community involvement.
Feeding South Dakota says the Volunteer-a-Thon gave residents, businesses, and civic groups an opportunity to make a direct impact in helping neighbors in need.
