PIEDMONT, S.D. – Students at Piedmont Valley Elementary were sent home early Wednesday after a main waterline break disrupted operations at the school.
School officials notified families that classes would be dismissed at 10 a.m., with buses transporting students home on an adjusted schedule.
The waterline break also led to the cancellation of the Capable Kids after-school program for the remainder of the day. Parents needing special accommodations were asked to contact the school office.
School administrators have not yet announced whether the issue will affect classes on Thursday. Officials say an update on the school’s operating status will be provided to families at a later time.
Piedmont Valley Elementary serves students in the Rapid City and Meade County area.
