RAPID CITY, S.D. – Veterans from across the Black Hills gathered in Rapid City Thursday for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ annual Stand Down event, designed to connect veterans with essential services and support.
Held at the Hilton DoubleTree, the event brought together dozens of organizations offering assistance with housing, healthcare, legal services, VA enrollment, and other resources.
Organizers say the goal is to make it easier for veterans to access help by bringing multiple service providers together in one location.
VA officials say many veterans arrive seeking assistance with one specific issue but often discover additional resources that can improve their overall well-being and stability.
The event also allows providers to make direct, person-to-person connections, helping veterans navigate services more efficiently and building relationships that can lead to long-term support.
