RAPID CITY, S.D. – Most restroom facilities in Rapid City’s park system will close for the winter season beginning Monday, October 5th.
City officials say the majority of park restrooms will remain closed until May 1st, although several facilities will stay open on a limited basis through October. Restrooms at Sioux Park, the lower Robbinsdale Park area, and the Sioux Park Tennis Courts will remain available, weather permitting.
Beginning November 1st, the year-round restroom facilities at Skyline Wilderness Park, Founders Park, and Canyon Lake West will switch to winter hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may close during inclement weather.
The Memorial Park Bandshell restroom facility will also be winterized and closed for the season.
Portable restrooms will continue to be available year-round at several park locations, with additional seasonal units being placed at select parks throughout October.
City officials encourage park users to plan ahead as seasonal closures take effect.
