RAPID CITY, S.D. – Two Rapid City residents are facing multiple drug charges after a traffic stop in Pennington County led to the seizure of thousands of fentanyl pills.
Authorities say 36-year-old Travis Harberts and 35-year-old Maranza Ball were arrested September 14th following an investigation by the Unified Narcotic Enforcement Team, or UNET. Investigators alleged the pair were transporting fentanyl and cocaine into Rapid City from Colorado.
During the traffic stop, law enforcement officers seized nearly 4,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, along with powdered fentanyl, cocaine, and more than 36-hundred dollars in cash.
Both suspects face multiple felony charges, including distribution and possession of fentanyl and cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia charges. They are currently being held in the Pennington County Jail.
Officials say the investigation was a coordinated effort involving local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Harberts and Ball are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
