RAPID CITY, S.D. – The parent company of the Rapid City Journal is expanding its presence across South Dakota and Montana through the acquisition of several regional newspapers from USA TODAY.
Lee Enterprises announced Monday it has acquired the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, Aberdeen American News, Farm Forum, Watertown Public Opinion, and Montana’s Great Falls Tribune.
Company officials say the move strengthens Lee’s coverage footprint across South Dakota, where it already operates the Rapid City Journal, and adds to its existing network of newspapers in Montana.
Lee Enterprises President and CEO Nathan Bekke says the acquisition reflects the company’s commitment to providing trusted local news and information that keeps communities informed and engaged.
The transaction takes effect immediately and expands Lee Enterprises’ portfolio to 193 owned and managed media brands across 28 states.
