RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in a major fentanyl trafficking operation in western South Dakota.
Federal prosecutors say 32-year-old Brendon Williams pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Investigators identified Williams as one of the largest fentanyl suppliers in the Northern Black Hills.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Williams was responsible for transporting at least 3.5 kilograms of fentanyl, including approximately 35,000 counterfeit M-30 pills, into South Dakota for distribution. Authorities also seized more than 322 grams of fentanyl during the investigation.
Officials say the case highlights ongoing efforts to combat the flow of fentanyl into South Dakota communities.
