RAPID CITY, S.D. – A major construction project on South Street in Rapid City will continue through Election Day, but city officials say voters will still be able to access a nearby polling location.
South Street is currently closed between 12th Street and West Boulevard as crews install a new water main, storm sewer, and reconstruct the roadway. The project is expected to remain in place through November 20th.
Because the closure overlaps with the November 3rd election, city public works officials have coordinated with the contractor to maintain ADA-accessible routes and parking on Fulton Street near the polling location.
Officials say the accommodations are intended to ensure voters can safely and easily reach the polling site while construction work continues.
