RAPID CITY, S.D. – Most restroom facilities in Rapid City’s parks system will close for the winter season beginning Monday, October 5, as part of the city’s annual winterization process.
Several locations will remain open with adjusted hours. Restrooms at Sioux Park and the lower Robbinsdale Park area will stay open through October, weather permitting, while year-round facilities at Skyline Wilderness Park, Founders Park, and Canyon Lake West will switch to winter hours beginning November 1.
City officials say all other permanent park restrooms will close after October 4 and are expected to reopen next spring on May 1.
To continue serving park users during the winter months, portable restrooms will remain available year-round at several locations, including Braeburn Park, Jackson Park Disc Golf Course, West Fulton Trailhead, Robbinsdale Park walking path, and Lacroix Disc Golf Course. Additional portable units will also be added at several parks this month.
