A Pennington County jury began deliberations Tuesday morning in the insanity trial of Walter Mousseau Jr., 30, of Pine Ridge, who was convicted last week of second-degree murder and drug ingestion in the 2022 drowning death of Sheldon Glenn, 43, at Memorial Park pond.
The trial, which began Nov. 12 and was delayed by a citywide blackout, resumed Tuesday with closing arguments. Mousseau’s defense, led by attorney Elizabeth Regalado, argued he was suffering from acute psychosis, While prosecutors countered that Mousseau’s actions were deliberate and calculated.
The jury must now decide whether Mousseau is guilty, guilty but mentally ill, or not guilty by reason of insanity. Sentencing will follow the verdict.
