RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City residents are being encouraged to attend a public open house this week to learn about and provide feedback on proposed regulations for future data centers in the city.
The Community Development Department will host the event Wednesday, October 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Officials say the meeting will include a presentation on the proposed ordinance along with an interactive survey designed to gather public input.
The proposed changes would add new standards for data centers, including requirements related to setbacks from residential areas, power and water usage, sewer capacity, and noise and vibration controls.
The Rapid City Planning Commission delayed further review of the ordinance until its November 5 meeting to allow additional time for revisions and public feedback.
Residents who cannot attend in person will be able to review information and complete an online survey through the city’s website following the open house.
