CUSTER, S.D. – A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon on Sidney Park Road in Custer County.
According to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies investigating the crash determined the driver failed to navigate a curve and continued straight off the roadway.
Authorities said the vehicle came to a stop after striking a pile of rocks, preventing it from hitting a nearby home that was under construction.
Because the crash involved a rollover, deputies requested a response from Custer Ambulance Service to evaluate the driver. However, officials say the driver declined medical treatment.
Deputies later conducted standardized field sobriety tests and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
