RAPID CITY, S.D. – Dozens of community members gathered outside Rapid City Hall on Saturday for a “No Kings” rally aimed at encouraging civic engagement and voter participation ahead of the November election.
Organized by Indivisible Rapid City, the event was held in mid-October to raise awareness before key voter registration and early voting deadlines.
Outreach Coordinator Lesleigh Owen said the rally’s primary focus was reminding residents that voting is one of the most effective ways to influence government and hold elected officials accountable.
Participants highlighted a variety of concerns, ranging from national policy issues to local topics, including ongoing discussions about proposed data center development in the Rapid City area.
Organizers say many residents feel frustrated or disconnected from politics, but they hope events like this will motivate more people to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
Early and absentee voting is already underway across South Dakota ahead of Election Day.
