RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City drivers and residents near Fifth and Columbus streets may face delays and temporary water service interruptions Wednesday as crews repair a water line break.
City crews will begin work before the morning commute, with traffic control in place at the intersection. The outside northbound lane of Fifth Street will be closed, and traffic will be merged into a single lane through the construction zone.
The city says some nearby customers could experience temporary disruptions to water service while repairs are underway. Officials expect the work to be completed by late Wednesday afternoon, with water service restored once repairs are finished.
Traffic control measures could remain in place for several days depending on how much excavation is required.
Motorists are urged to slow down, use caution in the area, and watch for workers and equipment. Additional updates will be released as they become available.
