RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun has selected Scott Anderson to serve as the city’s next Parks and Recreation Director.
The Rapid City Common Council will consider the appointment at its November 2nd meeting. Anderson would succeed former director Jeff Biegler, who retired in September.
Anderson has worked for the City of Rapid City since 2009 and has served as Parks Division Manager since 2017. In that role, he has overseen city parks, recreational facilities, the urban forest, cemeteries, and park ranger operations.
Mayor Salamun praised Anderson’s leadership, experience, and track record managing major budgets and capital improvement projects. Anderson also brings more than 30 years of experience in landscape contracting, nursery operations, and supervision.
A graduate of South Dakota State University and Newell High School, Anderson was selected following a two-month search and interview process.
If confirmed by the council, Anderson will take over leadership of one of the city’s largest public service departments.
