STURGIS, S.D. – A Sturgis church with deep roots in the community is celebrating a major milestone.
First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis marked its 140th anniversary this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce.
Founded in 1886, the church has served generations of Sturgis residents as a place of worship, fellowship, and community connection. Church leaders say the anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the congregation’s history, honor those who helped build its legacy, and celebrate its ongoing role in the community.
Over the past 140 years, the church has witnessed the growth and evolution of Sturgis while continuing to welcome individuals and families through its doors.
In a statement, church leaders expressed gratitude to everyone who has been part of the church’s journey and said they look forward to continuing their mission of faith and service for years to come.
