RAPID CITY, – The Rapid City Public Library has named a familiar face to lead the organization while the search continues for a permanent library director.
The Library Board of Trustees recently confirmed Sean Minkel as interim director. Minkel brings nearly 18 years of experience with the Rapid City Public Library, including more than a decade as assistant director. He previously served as the library’s customer and technology services librarian and also worked for six years with the Holbrook Library at Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Library Board Chair Emily Tupa says Minkel’s extensive experience and understanding of the library’s mission make him well-qualified to guide the organization during the transition.
Minkel has been overseeing day-to-day operations since late September following the departure of former director Terri Davis. He holds a Master of Library Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University and a mechanical engineering degree from South Dakota Mines.
The City of Rapid City is continuing to accept applications as it searches for a permanent library director.
