RAPID CITY, S.D. – Law enforcement agencies are searching for a Pennington County inmate who escaped from a supervised work crew Friday afternoon in Rapid City.
Authorities say 33-year-old Christopher Whiteface escaped at approximately 2:45 p.m. while participating in the Pennington County Work Release Program. He was last seen near the intersection of First and Quincy Streets.
Whiteface is described as 5-foot-11, weighing about 198 pounds. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a fluorescent green hoodie, blue jeans, and work boots.
Officials say Whiteface was serving a sentence for two probation violations when he walked away from the supervised work crew.
Anyone who sees Whiteface or knows his whereabouts is urged not to approach him and instead call 911 immediately.
The search remains ongoing.
