RAPID CITY, S.D. – This month marks 11 years since the homicide of 19-year-old East Lee on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, and his family is once again asking the public for help in solving the case.
Lee was found dead near a dam northeast of Eagle Butte in October 2015. Authorities ruled his death a homicide, but no arrests have been made in the more than a decade since his death.
His mother, Sherri Turning Heart, says she has spent the last 11 years keeping her son’s memory alive while his son has grown up without a father.
Investigators and family members continue to hope that witnesses who may have been unwilling to come forward in the past will provide information. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the FBI’s Pierre office or submit an anonymous tip online.
