RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota voters will head to the polls Tuesday to decide several high-profile state and federal races, along with four statewide ballot measures.
At the top of the ballot, Republican Larry Rhoden faces Democrat Dan Ahlers for governor. Republican Mike Rounds is seeking another term in the U.S. Senate against Independent challenger Brian Bengs. In the race for South Dakota’s U.S. House seat, Marty Jackley is running against Nikki Gronli.
Voters will also choose among three candidates for Secretary of State and decide all 70 seats in the South Dakota House of Representatives and all 35 seats in the State Senate.
In addition to candidate races, voters will weigh in on four ballot measures involving Medicaid expansion, voter citizenship requirements, an unclaimed property trust fund and a proposal requiring state constitutional amendments to receive 60 percent voter approval.
Local races are also on ballots across the state, including county commission contests in Meade County.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Officials remind voters to bring a valid photo ID when casting their ballots.
