President Donald Trump’s bronze statue will be permanently placed in downtown Rapid City on November 25, as part of the City of Presidents project.
The statue, located at the corner of St. Joseph Street and 6th Street, was first unveiled in May and housed at the Rapid City Visitor Center. This marks the first time a sitting president has had a statue presented during their term in the project, which aims to line downtown streets with statues of every U.S. president.
The statue was commissioned after Trump’s first term ended in 2021 and was completed before his re-election in 2024. Artist Jim Maher, who has created statues of 12 other presidents, including Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, is behind the Trump statue.
