RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash west of Rapid City last week as 75-year-old David A. Scheller of Rapid City.
Authorities say Scheller was riding a 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan eastbound on Sheridan Lake Road around noon Friday when he failed to negotiate a curve, entered the north ditch, and was thrown from the motorcycle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Scheller was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
