RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police say charges are pending after a hit-and-run crash caused an estimated 150-thousand dollars in property damage earlier this week.
Officers responded Wednesday morning to a storage lot in the 400 block of East Watts Lane, where two camper trailers had been struck by a Tesla. Investigators say no one was found inside the vehicle when they arrived.
According to police, evidence indicates the Tesla was traveling west on East Catron Boulevard when it left the roadway, crossed into oncoming traffic, rolled through a field, and crashed into the storage lot.
Authorities estimate the damage to the two camper trailers exceeds 150-thousand dollars. Police say they have identified the suspected driver and an arrest is expected.
The crash remains under investigation.
