After more than two decades, there’s been a major development in the disappearance of Beverly Ozuna-Ulrich, a Belle Fourche mother of eight who vanished in 2003.
Her estranged husband, Steven Lee Ulrich, was arrested on Nov. 25 and is being held in the Meade County Jail on first- and second-degree murder charges. Beverly, a member of the Lakota tribe and the youngest of 16 siblings, was last seen leaving her home on Oct. 17, 2003. She was reported missing ten days later.
Belle Fourche Police Chief Ryan Cherveny said investigators have pursued leads for years, with intensified efforts over the past six years leading to Ulrich’s arrest. Authorities have not confirmed whether Beverly’s body has been found.
Ulrich remains jailed on $500,000 cash bond as the case continues.
