Rapid City issued 158 building permits in November worth more than $21.2 million, the city’s second-highest November in six years.
So far in 2025, the city has approved 2,236 permits valued at $378.6 million, already ranking as the fourth-highest year on record. December’s numbers will determine if totals surpass 2024 ($383.6 million), 2021 ($393.5 million), or approach the record $463.5 million set in 2023.
Major November projects include:
- $7.3 million Ronald McDonald House by Monument Health
- $5 million Mountain View Water Treatment facility upgrades
- Two $1.3 million apartment complexes on Provider Boulevard
Community Development Director Vicki Fisher said the city is on track for at least the third-highest valuation ever, possibly nearing $400 million.
