A second man has been charged in connection with the apparent murder of a Belle Fourche woman who vanished in October 2003.
Steven Ulrich was arrested in late November and charged with First Degree Murder in Beverly Ozuna-Ulrich’s death. Belle Fourche Police say Max Piekkola has also been arrested and charged as an accessory to a felony.
Authorities report the arrests stem from years of interviews and leads pursued in the case. Court documents allege Ulrich killed Ozuna-Ulrich on October 17, 2003, in Butte County. Piekkola is accused of concealing or destroying evidence to hinder the investigation.
If convicted, Piekkola faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Ulrich could face the death penalty.
