Visit Rapid City’s meeting and convention efforts generated an estimated $5.41 million in economic impact in 2025. Director of Sales Tyson Steiger said the team helped bring more than 30 groups to the city, including the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (about 600 attendees) and the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (about 900 attendees).
Steiger noted that these events boost the local economy by supporting jobs, reducing tax burdens, and introducing professionals to Rapid City as a potential place to invest or relocate. He added that visiting groups also experience the region’s culture and iconic attractions, from Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial to the Black Hills and Badlands.
Looking ahead, Rapid City expects another strong year in 2026, with several contracted groups already scheduled, including the 173rd Airborne Brigade Association, the South Dakota Republican Party, the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, and the National Association of Secretaries of State. The projected economic impact for 2026 meetings is about $5 million.
