Two years after losing its downtown Rapid City location and 15 years after opening its doors, the Hope Center’s board of directors has announced the organization will dissolve. The decision was shared Monday morning in a post on the Hope Center’s Facebook page.
The nonprofit, which served people experiencing poverty from its former downtown site, closed in December 2023 after failing to secure a new location. A proposed site was ultimately rejected by the Rapid City Common Council.
Despite the closure, the Hope Center has continued holding weekly devotions and staying connected with former guests. Those gatherings will continue on Wednesdays from 8 to 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
According to the announcement, the organization will distribute its remaining funds to four local groups, which will be named at a later date.
