South Dakota landowners and agricultural producers will gather at the Capitol Rotunda on Jan. 12, 2026, for the South Dakota Property Rights Rally, an event focused on private property protections and legislative priorities ahead of the 2026 session.
The rally follows the passage of House Bill 1052, which eliminated the use of eminent domain for carbon pipelines in the state. Organizers say the event will celebrate that victory while urging continued vigilance.
Mitchell rancher and advocate Amanda Radke said the rally aims to keep pressure on lawmakers.
Sen. Mark Lapka (R‑Leola) plans to introduce additional property‑rights legislation this session, saying policymakers must continue hearing directly from affected landowners.
Speakers will include Attorney General Marty Jackley, Speaker Pro Tem Karla Lems, Rep. Liz May, Sen. Mykala Voita, Charles and Heather Maude, Jared Bossly, Radke, and Lapka.
The event is open to the public and is expected to draw landowners and agricultural stakeholders from across the state.
