South Dakota House OKs Plan to Give Historic Hydroelectric Plant to Canyon Foundation

The South Dakota House of Representatives approved a bill to transfer an old hydroelectric plant in Spearfish Canyon to a foundation for potential conversion into an interpretive center. The bill would transfer ownership of the Homestake Mine Hydro Electric Plant No. 2 building to the Spearfish Canyon Foundation at no cost. The building is located near the entrance to the Devil’s Bathtub hiking trail.
