Rapid City police say a man reportedly threatened medical personnel with a firearm inside a residence last evening.
According to authorities, the incident began around 8:20 p.m. when a medical unit responded to a home in the 2800 block of Willow Avenue for what was described as a routine medical call. Upon entering the residence, medics encountered a male subject who allegedly threatened them with a gun. The responders quickly backed out of the home and alerted law enforcement.
A significant police presence formed in the neighborhood as officers worked to establish communication with the man inside. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Rapid City Fire Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Pennington County 911 Dispatch, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
In an update released later Wednesday night, officials confirmed that the man had been safely detained without incident. No injuries were reported.
Authorities said that charges are pending against the suspect and more details will be released when appropriate.
