The Meade County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a scam in which callers falsely claim they must post bond for a jailed inmate using methods like Bitcoin kiosks. Officials stress that law enforcement agencies never request bond payments through cryptocurrency, gift cards, or other unconventional channels. All legitimate bond payments must be made in person at approved locations.
Residents are urged to independently verify any such claims, avoid engaging with scammers, and report suspicious calls or messages to the sheriff’s office.
