Rapid City collected more than $81.6 million in sales tax revenue through November 2025, up 3.23% from the same period in 2024. The city also set a new November record, bringing in $7 million, the first time November receipts have exceeded that mark.
General fund sales tax revenue reached $38 million so far this year, with nearly $3.3 million collected in November—2% higher than last year and slightly above budget projections.
Tourism tax collections totaled $5.8 million through November, though the month’s $446,606 figure was 5.4% lower than 2024.
The Capital Improvement Fund received $21.9 million, a 3.15% increase, while the Vision Fund brought in $15.9 million, also up 3.15%.
City officials note sales tax collections have risen in 63 of the past 66 months, aside from declines during early COVID-19 restrictions.
The November report will be presented Wednesday to the Legal and Finance Committee.
