Deadwood police are continuing their efforts to locate Molly Richards, a missing Texas woman whose last possible location was Main Street in Deadwood.
Richards was believed to be traveling from Texas to South Dakota in early November with another individual familiar with the area. They were driving in separate vehicles. Her father reported her missing in Corinth, Texas, on January 5.
Deadwood Police Chief Corey Shafer said Richards was reportedly seen in Deadwood sometime before December 8, but the sighting has not been confirmed.
Shafer said “We don’t have a specific business, time, or verified sighting,” “People have said they saw someone who looked like her, but we haven’t been able to confirm it.”
Police are still trying to locate the person who was caravanning with Richards, as well as others who may know her whereabouts. Investigators have not determined whether foul play is involved. Richards’ vehicle was found at a residence in Deadwood, and a search warrant was executed.
“That vehicle is currently being processed for any evidence that can guide our next steps,” Shafer said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Deadwood Police Department or the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
