Rapid City collected more than $81.6 million in sales tax revenue through November 2025, a 3.23% increase over the same period in 2024, according to a new city report. The latest figures were presented at Wednesday’s Legal and Finance Committee meeting.
November alone generated a record $7 million in sales tax receipts — the first time collections for the month have surpassed that mark.
The report shows: The general fund received more than $38 million through November, up from $36.7 million in 2024. November’s $3.3 million total was 2% higher than last year and slightly ahead of budget projections.
Tourism tax collections totaled nearly $5.8 million for the year, though November’s $446,606 was down 5.4% from 2024.
The Capital Improvement Fund brought in more than $21.9 million, a 3.15% increase over last year.
The Vision Fund collected more than $15.9 million, also up 3.15% from 2024.
According to the city, sales tax collections have increased in 63 of the past 66 months, excluding declines during the early COVID-19 period.
