City and county officials gathered at The Monument Thursday for a ceremonial ribbon cutting to launch the 2026 Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo.
Proclamations were issued to mark the start of the event, with main activities beginning today under the theme Vintage Rapid City.
The Stock Show and Rodeo is South Dakota’s second‑largest event, attracting more than 330,000 visitors and featuring top‑tier PRCA rodeo competition. Rodeo Rapid City recently earned Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year honors from the PRCA for the third straight year and seventh time overall, covering competitors across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
The Stock Show & Rodeo runs through February 7, offering livestock shows, rodeo action, sales, and western entertainment.
