Several South Dakota gubernatorial hopefuls have filed their 2025 campaign‑finance reports.
Republican House Speaker Jon Hansen reported raising $188,771.98 and spending $134,878.01, while Republican Gov. Larry Rhoden reported $491,285.87 in contributions and $70,593.75 in expenses. Rhoden’s fundraising included major support from two political action committees: the Free American Fund, which received contributions from T. Denny Sanford, James Brown, and Beal Distributing, and the Strong, Safe and Free PAC, founded by state lawmakers Mike Derby and Arch Beal.
On the Democratic side, Robert Arnold of Pierre reported $4,000.36 raised— including a personal loan—and $3,360.66 spent.
Several candidates had not yet filed their reports as of Saturday evening, including Republican Toby Doeden, Anthony Sitter, Scott Morris, and Allison Renville. Terry Gleason of Chamberlain reported no money raised or spent.
A previously posted filing from Republican U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson showed $1.6 million raised and $650,621.85 in expenditures.
The filing deadline was 5 p.m. CT Friday.
