Authorities have increased efforts to locate Jeremy Taylor, and a $2,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to his arrest. The Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office say Taylor has been on the run since January 31, when he fled a traffic stop and disappeared into the wooded area near Baker Park Road and Sheridan Lake Road while carrying an AR‑15 rifle.
Taylor is wanted in Ohio for gross sexual imposition and faces South Dakota charges of eluding, resisting arrest, and obstruction. Investigators believe he is hiding in the remote Black Hills region near Sheridan Lake and Pactola Reservoir, and remains armed.
Officials warn Taylor is prepared for confrontation and familiar with outdoor survival. Pennington County Chief Deputy Mark Hughes said Taylor appears capable of living in the elements and may have some military training.
The reward is being offered through the Community Reward Fund, a nonprofit that distributes community‑donated funds to assist major investigations.
Anyone who sees Taylor should not approach him and should call 911 immediately. Non‑emergency tips can be directed to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 605‑394‑6115.
