The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that occurred Thursday morning following a vehicle pursuit in Rapid City.
Authorities say the incident began when a Highway Patrol trooper attempted to pull over a Jeep near Interstate 90 and Haines Avenue. The driver refused to stop, leading troopers on a pursuit into the city.
The chase ended at the intersection of East North Street and North Cherry Avenue, where the Jeep ran a stop sign and was struck by a truck. All five occupants of the Jeep were injured and transported to a hospital. The truck’s driver sustained minor injuries but declined further treatment.
According to officials, charges are pending against two people who were inside the Jeep. The investigation remains ongoing.
