Former TV news anchor Shad Olson was arrested Thursday in Ft. Pierre on an outstanding warrant after allegedly violating the conditions of his sentence in a domestic abuse–simple assault case.
The warrant, issued December 23, 2025, was triggered when the court determined Olson had not complied with the terms of his suspended imposition of sentence. Court documents say he failed to pay required fees, did not complete an alcohol evaluation, and did not complete or provide proof of completing anger‑management courses.
On February 18, Olson’s attorney moved to withdraw, citing repeated unsuccessful attempts to contact him. It’s unclear whether Olson has new representation.
According to the arrest warrant, Olson is scheduled to appear in Meade County court on March 24.
