Kevin Maher has announced he will seek re‑election to the Rapid City Common Council representing Ward 3, which covers much of west Rapid City.
With The 2026 city election cycle is underway, Candidates must submit 50 valid signatures by March 23 to appear on the June 2 ballot. Seats held by Josh Biberdorf (Ward 1), Lindsey Seachris (Ward 2), Maher (Ward 3), John Roberts (Ward 4), and Rod Pettigrew (Ward 5) are up for election; all but Pettigrew have said they plan to run again.
Maher, first elected in 2023 and a former Council President, said he’s running to continue providing “steady leadership, fiscal responsibility, and practical solutions.” His priorities include budgeting, infrastructure, economic development, and public safety.
