Hazmat crews were dispatched to reports of an “unknown leak” near Custer Wednesday afternoon.
The leak was reported around 12:10 p.m. at the Stage Stop Trading Post, prompting the Custer Volunteer Fire Department to request assistance from the Rapid City Fire Department’s hazmat team as a precaution. RC Hazmat 6 and Fire Paramedic 6 responded and helped investigate the scene.
Details of what was found have not been released, but crews determined there was no immediate danger. The building was vented, and Custer VFD later reported that all units had cleared the scene and returned to station.
No injuries were reported.
