The South Dakota Department of Health has opened a new round of Requests for Proposals under the state’s Rural Health Transformation (RHT) initiative, aimed at strengthening rural, tribal, and frontier health care through digital modernization and improved care coordination.
Health Secretary Melissa Magstadt said the effort is designed to create “stronger, more integrated and connected health care systems” and support statewide access to care. The RFPs follow Gov. Larry Rhoden’s signing of HB 1044, which funded the initiative and became the first bill of the 2026 session to reach his desk.
Three RFPs are now available:
- Doula Workforce Advancement Program
- Statewide Maternal Health Access and Services Assessment
- Rural Health Forward
All RHT RFPs can be viewed and applied for through the state’s posting board at postingboard.esmsolutions.com. Additional details on eligibility and deadlines are included within each listing.
