Candidates have less than a week to file for Rapid City’s municipal election. Petitions are due by 5 p.m. next Tuesday at the Rapid City Finance Office to appear on the June 2 ballot.
Voters will elect one city council member in each of the city’s five wards, with winners serving three‑year terms.
Election packets—including petitions, requirements, and deadlines—are available at the Finance Office at City Hall, 300 Sixth Street. Candidates must submit at least 50 valid signatures to qualify.
Council seats currently held by Josh Biberdorf (Ward 1), Lindsey Seachris (Ward 2), Kevin Maher (Ward 3), John Roberts (Ward 4), and Rod Pettigrew (Ward 5) are up for election.
